Pitru Paksha is a 15 day period which is purely dedicated to all the ancestors or forefathers. People perform Pitru Tarpan and Pind Daan during these days. According to the Hindu Scriptures, it is believed that Pitru comes on earth in these 15 days of period.As per legend, if a person fails to perform shraddha of their ancestors during these days or in case they are not aware about the death tithi, then they can perform all the tarpan rituals on the day of ‘Sarvapitra Moksha Amavasya’. It is also believed that if their shraddha ritual is not observed during these days, they return unhappily.If there is a Pitru Dosh in your horoscope, it is said that you may face bad experiences in life and the effects of that in your life. So, it is advised to perform the shradh ritual and Pind daan on the day of Amavasya.
